I had a day off, and instead of buying a new tv to replace the flat screen in my bedroom, I decided to look online to see if anyone else had had a similar problem, and to see what the solution might be.
There is a lot of information online about my particular problem (the on button doesn’t seem to turn the tv “on”) and so I set about to fixing the television myself. It took longer than it should have (I was was kind of shy about the whole thing and a little overly cautious) but I did it. This photo shows the circuit board that is the brains of the television and one of those blue cylinders is the bad capacitor that I replaced. Cost me $3.49.
